Mrs. Wendy Kane

Welcome to Mrs. Kane's Third Grade Class!

Each day is a learning day in our classroom! We want to make the most of each of our days together so that we can fill our minds with as much new knowledge as we can. We will work together each day as a TEAM of learners.

Thank you for your time and support throughout the school year. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns. E-mail is the quickest way to reach me. I believe we truly are a team and together we can provide each child with the best education possible!

This year we will soar into learning as we are SUPERHEROES!

This month we have lots to learn about in 3rd grade. In reading, we are focusing on Main Idea and Details, Theme, and Author's Point of View.  In writing and grammar, we will discover all kinds of nouns and we will write a how-to explanatory piece.

In Math, we will spend a great deal of time on multiplication, multi-step number stories, and how to use number models to represent a problem.  Our goal is to also get math drills up and rolling.  Students will have drill home work Monday-Thursday and take a drill test on Friday.  If they pass the drill test on Friday, they will move onto the next set of drills. If they do not pass it, they will repeat that drill the following week.  All students will begin on multiplication.

In content, we will be finishing up our science unit and moving into social studies.  The students will be learning about why it is important to understand where we live. They will also have a special project to complete that focuses on the regions of the US. More information will come home as we approach that time.

We also plan to begin working on Study Island this month.  We will send home more information as we approach that time. Right now the goal is to familiarize the students with the program and use it as a reinforcement in the classroom.
