Instructional Support Teacher
This year I will serve Fairview as the Instructional Support Teacher (IST). I will not have a classroom, but as a teacher, I will have the privilege to work with all grade levels, kindergarten through sixth grade.
As an Instructional Support Teacher (IST), I will be responsible for working with students, teachers and parents. We will work together to put educational plans in place to help the students be successful. Together, we will set goals and develop strategies to help your child. After time has passed, we may change strategies or continue to monitor your child's progress. Since parents are a very important part of this process, you input will be valued. It takes a team, working together,to meet the child's needs and help them to be successful in school.
My office is located near the Library area. You may reach me by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone at 717-762-1191x1438
I will work with teachers and reading specialists to place students appropriately into reading interventions based on the MTSS (Multi-tiered System of Supports)/RtII (Response to Intervention and Instruction) model. Using research-based interventions to target a student's instructional needs the goal of MTSS/RtII is to improve the student's academic achievement in the regular education environment. Students are placed into intervention groups and extra support is given. Their academic progress is monitored and charted for growth. As the child succeeds in the targeted intervention he/she will move back into the regular classroom and continue on the road to success. Students are continually monitored for progress and intervention groups change as the needs of the student changes.
Students are currently being assessed with Fountas and Pinnell (1-6) and Study Island ELA and Math (3-6).
