Welcome back to school! My name is Lee Ann Rager and I am the elementary school guidance counselor at Fairview and Hooverville Elementary schools. I look forward to meeting and talking to parents and students throughout the year.
Here are a few things I will be working on throughout the year:
Classroom Guidance: Lessons in Kindergarten about warm fuzzies and Cold Pricklies. Other classroom lessons upon teacher request.
Individual Counseling in the elementary school is short-term, meaning a student would be seen no more than about 6 times depending on the need and circumstances. If the student is in need of additional mental health services, referrals can be made through our school social worker, Regina Polito. Individual counseling can begin at anytime during the year.
Parent Consultation is also available by appointment. Please feel free to set up an appointment by phone at 762-1191 ext 1411 at Fairview and ext. 1511 at Hooverville or you can e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I return calls and e-mail during the day when possible.
Small Counseling Groups will start around October. I will can offer groups on a variety of topics including social skills, conflict resolution, friendship, study skills, self-esteem, stress management/anxiety reduction, and anger. All groups are formed on the needs of the students. Any staff or parent can refer a student they feel could benefit from small group counseling. All requests MUST BE submitted in written from.
Transition Assistance will be for all new students. I attempt to meet with all of the students grades 1-6 during the first few weeks of school to give them additional information about Fairview and Hooverville and give each student a chance to ask questions.
Teacher/Administrative Consultation and collaboration is available every day.
I look forward to working together this year.
